Since my election as a City Councillor in 1999 I have worked with the people of Galway in an open and accountable manner with the common good to the fore of all my decisions. I am now asking for the privilege to represent you at national level as the first Independent Female TD from Galway West.
Election history:
First elected to Galway City Council in 1999; re-elected in ‘04, ‘11 and ‘14. I have served on many committees both as an ordinary member and as a chair and/or vice chair, and was Mayor of Galway City 2004-5. I stood in the General Election in 2011 and was just 17 votes short of taking a seat.
Priorities:
- The provision of a universal public health system. We need to immediately plan for a new hospital on the grounds of Merlin Park
- Public Housing. The current crisis in housing in Galway is a direct result of the failure to build social housing
- An Integrated Public Transport System - the most sustainable solution to Galway’s Traffic congestion
