I am a strong, independent voice for Donegal in Dáil Éireann. I want to fight back to make Donegal centre stage in government decision-making. My mission is to protect the vulnerable, fight against regional inequality and help Donegal overturn decades of neglect by inclusive policy development.
Election history:
Previously elected to Donegal County Council in 1999 and remained Councillor until the 2011 General Elections when I was voted in as TD. I currently sit on a number of Dáil Committees including: Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Members' Interests and Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.
Priorities:
- Hold a referendum to keep water in public hands and put Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in the constitution to end austerity policies for good.
- Target regional inequality through job creation & prioritisation of broadband rollout to peripheral areas while develop job-intensive biomass sector.
- Restore income supports and social welfare payments back to pre-2012 levels to support Seasonal Workers and those on Farm Assist struggling to get by.
